Pierre Bastien (b. Paris, 1953) is considered on the international music scene the pioneer of some of the latest sound discourses within experimental music. Post-graduated in eighteenth-century French literature at University Paris-Sorbonne, in 1977 he built his first musical machinery. For the next ten years he has been composing for dance companies and playing with Pascal Comelade. In the meantime he was constantly developing his mechanical orchestra. Since 1987 he concentrates on it through solo performances, sound installations, recordings, collaborations with other artists and has been released on numerous labels including Aphex Twin’s Replex.

Marc Chia / Tara x (Singapore, 1982), aka One Man Nation, is a transgender musician with a background in media and sound art. Graduating in 2009 with a Master´s in Media Design from the Piet Zwart Institute in the Netherlands, she investigates social and psychological situations related to tradition and its progression, the future through the eyes of history, and spirituality in technology through the medium of sound and performance.

She currently splits her time between Europe and Asia where she is researching and developing The Future Sounds Of Folk in collaboration with Steim (Amsterdam) as well as co-directing with Marta Moreno Muñoz the experimental art space The Unifiedfield . Past and current collaborations include but not limited to Pierre Bastien, Dr Truna, Machinefabriek, C-drik Fermont, Kato Hideki, Hilary Jeffrey, Richard Scott, Alfredo Genovesi, Soopa Collective, Iman Zimbot, Bambu Wukir and has performed internationally at the Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao), Museum of Contemporary Art (Taipei). ISEA (Ruhr), Mapping (Geneva), Piksel (Bergen), MEM (Bilbao), STEIM Jamboree (Amsterdam), Makeart (Poitiers), Fete 0.1 (Orléans) and SummerLAB (Gijón) amongst others.
